Get Involved in the International Youth Peace Summit
We are currently looking for young leaders to become a part of the international youth peace summit program. If you, or anyone you know, is able to contribute in one of the following ways, follow the directions and sign yourself or your group up for this evening of sharing service stories and peace building.
Ask yourself...
All of the submissions we receive and presentations that we accept,
must should be related to the ways that you or your group
has promoted peace and created changed in your communities.
Art Categories:
Print art- paintings and drawings
Mixed media- webpages, graphic design
Short films
Photography
Sculpture or other 3-D constructions
There will be Rotary People's Choice Awards presented at the end of the evening to the winner and runner up of each category. All of the event attendees will have the chance to view and vote on the art and writing submissions. The art submission will be arranged in a gallery setting and will be open to the whole conference over the course of the evening.
How can you help?
Attend the conference by purchasing a ticket online
Promote the conference by telling your friends and fellow students to check out the website and purchase a ticket online as well as informing your friends and fellow students of the various ways that they can be a part of the conference program
Sign up yourself or your group to be a presenter or caucus group leader
Presentations:
All of the individuals and groups that sign up must be prepared to speak in front of an audience of hundreds of youth conference attendees. There will be equipment available for slideshow presentations. All presentations should be between 7-10 minutes in length.
Are you an outstanding individual who has launched or plans to launch a local or international community service project? If so, come and tell us about it!
Are you a student or community organization that has been motivated by visions for a better world to build peace and cooperation in your communities? If so, come and make a presentation about your projects!
Slam Poetry:
If you are a slam poet and should like to perform 1 or more pieces on peace related themes, we want you to be a part of this event!
Musical performers:
We are interested in welcoming bands that can perform a musical piece that the audience can understand and relate to.
Multicultural performances:
We are interested in having individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds participate in sharing with each other parts of themselves through a presentation of their culture.
Short skits/ Plays:
If you are a member of a drama club or a social organization that wants to put on a short skit or play on how to create change in your communities, we want you!
Caucus group leaders:
We are looking for ambitious and articulate youth leaders to organize and lead a caucus break out session on one of the following themes
1) War and Peace
2) Media
3) Conflict Resolution and Problem Solving
4) Environment
5) UN Declaration of Human Rights
6) Literacy
7) Clean Water
8) Poverty
9) Disease
10) Grass Roots activism
If you agree to be a caucus break out session leader, you must be prepared to arrange in advance a working group session that will last 45 minutes in length. This includes having a thorough understanding of the topic ( state the problem, initiate an interactive discussion, propose solutions) and an enthusiasm for involving other students in discussing the issue and brainstorming solutions. Each working group will have between 15- 30 youth participants.
Student debaters
We are looking for students who are a part of the debate teams in high school or college ( or who are independently talented debaters) who can either lead a caucus group session on their area of interest or who can participate in a panel discussion on one of the caucus issues listed.
