The world's Rotary clubs meet weekly and are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds.

Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development.

The organization’s efforts also include their extraordinary work in the eradication of Polio. Along with global partners, Rotarians have given of their time and financial resources to rid the world of this dreaded disease. Currently, four countries remain endemic and the final phase will be the most costly and challenging to complete. To date, Rotarians have contributed over US600-million dollars to this effort and hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours.

Additionally, more than a billion dollars have been donated to Rotary International programs that provide Matching Grants, Disaster Relief, Humanitarian International projects, Youth and Adult Exchange Programs and Rotary Peace Fellowships.

Rotary holds the highest consultative status offered to a nongovernmental organization (NGO) by the United Nations Economic and Social Council. This is an extraordinary example of their status as a world leader in the pursuit of humanitarian service to mankind.
